Involve everyone in shaping mental health at work

Suggested Actions

Business size:
Small, Medium & Large
Develop and deliver workplace wellbeing panels or forums where people can share, learn and access help

Give the forum a clear purpose, regular meeting pattern and route for recommendations to reach people who can make decisions.

Work together with people to solve problems and strengthen open and honest communication

Bring together people affected by an issue and those able to change it, then agree the problem, possible responses and how decisions will be communicated.

Listen to, and act on, employee feedback in a timely manner

Set expectations for response times and close the feedback loop by saying what has been done, what is planned or why action cannot be taken.

Actively involve people in designing solutions and ensure their voice shape meaningful change

Involve employees early enough to influence the solution, rather than asking for views only after the approach has already been decided.

Provide a sense of ownership by involving people in improvements to shape mental health in the workplace

Give people defined opportunities to shape, test and review improvements so involvement leads to visible influence and shared ownership.
