FAQs: The Mentally Healthy Workplace Toolkit
What is the Mentally Healthy Workplace Toolkit?
The Mentally Healthy Workplace Toolkit is a practical resource from the Leeds Mindful Employer Network, developed with the support of MINDFUL EMPLOYER. It brings together actions, guidance, resources and real-world case studies to help organisations benchmark, build and sustain mentally healthy workplaces through continuous improvement.
Who is the toolkit for?
The toolkit has been designed for organisations of all sizes and sectors. Whether you're just getting started or looking to build on existing good practice, it provides practical support to help you move forward at a pace that works for your organisation.
Is the toolkit free to use?
Yes. The toolkit is available free of charge to support employers in creating mentally healthy workplaces.
Do I need to be a member of the Leeds Mindful Employer Network to use it?
No. The toolkit is freely available to all employers. However, members of the Leeds Mindful Employer Network can also access a wide range of additional support, including events, webinars, newsletters, networking opportunities and shared learning.
Where should we start?
Start by completing the benchmarking tool. This will help you understand your organisation's current position, identify strengths and highlight areas where you may wish to focus your efforts.
From there, you can start with whichever theme or task is most relevant to your organisation. The toolkit is designed to be flexible, so there is no prescribed order. Whether you begin with Leading the Way, Designing Good Work or Supporting Your People, you can work at a pace that suits your organisation and revisit the toolkit regularly as your priorities evolve.
Do we have to complete every task?
No. The toolkit is not designed to be completed from start to finish like a checklist. Every organisation is different, so you can prioritise the areas that will have the greatest impact for your workforce and revisit the toolkit as your organisation develops.
What will we find in the toolkit?
The toolkit is organised around three key themes: Leading the Way, Designing Good Work and Supporting Your People. Within each theme you'll find practical tasks, suggested actions, useful resources and real-world case studies to help you put ideas into practice.
How often should we use the toolkit?
The toolkit is designed to support continuous improvement rather than one-off activity. We recommend revisiting your benchmark regularly, reviewing your progress and using the toolkit to identify your next priorities as your organisation evolves.
How was the toolkit developed?
The toolkit was developed by the Leeds Mindful Employer Network in partnership with MINDFUL EMPLOYER. It draws on an extensive review of current research, evidence and best practice. It has been designed and built by Few and Far, with input from local employers to ensure it is practical, relevant and easy to use.
